I am in your yard, you can stand on me,
Bring me out for a party, lie me under a tree.

Be careful of the wobble, or you’ll hit the floor,
My footing is tricky, one tilt, your back will be sore.

I am never cleaned, yet always there,
Kept in the family, for when you need a spare.

I’ve held up your abuela when her knees grew weaker,
Your baby cousin too, whose sleep gets deeper and deeper.

I am nameless, but always there,
The one within reach when you yell, “We need a
chair!”

I’ve seen every birthday, I’ve held them with care,
Bring out a new chair, they won’t compare.

You don’t know where I come from, yet I’m still trusted,
Until you play musical chairs, and find out that I’m busted!
