i got
entangled in the cloud
layer before i even met the mountains <
countless tongues in one breath < endless re-raveling
from every vantage point | the skyline is not a secret < but
a miraculous magnitude | i tell you all the things i’ve never done
< spills out of mouth as tangerine seeds < it is only in character to talk
daybreak out of surge | you promise this is the first mountain of many < and this is the truest of true | we walk in the current < land our gaze on toy airplanes
< see our city turn on and wrap around us like an electric eel | in interchanging
moon phases < in long exposure of your shadow across my face < in
true exposure of your vibrance | i realize there is no such thing
as the absence of light < as we scrape the top of our cetacean
dome < poke holes in our convulsing ceiling < water
stardust with grievances and gratitude < planting gardens
into space < tossing bouquets to everything we didn’t know
to
love | we exchange tumultuous migraines < and the invitation
of tomorrow | i start shaping this life < with an open jaw <
across a rock the size of a manta ray < above a sun stacked like
pancakes | this life is built for bootstraps < scrambling through
change in time lapse < hiking up windows and doors that fizz when
opened < while you keep my nature company | a rush of bloodline to the
head < this lifeline is a catapult < as i’ve been strung across the california coast
< but taught i’m never home | a shaved ice machine spills over Santa Barbara
< and i swear < it’s just for us | an aquarium backstrokes over Santa
Barbara < and i swear < it’s just for us | poets limbo with longboards
under over Santa Barbara < and i swear < it’s just for us | a
Lizard yawns < dreams the entire milky way < and i
swear < it’s all for us…………..
