A bottomless well
surges,
then swells,
welling out my eyes.
keep the surface tension,
if you dive in my depths
you’ll lose your buoyancy,
staying down under with me.
please.
i don’t want us both to drown.
a chronic infestation
settles in my folds.
black mold
fester-meshes in my breath.
a pus-welling wound
oozes pungent odor.
fever-induced dreams
forge untruths
suffocate in my airways.
i’m a “too much”
look only from afar,
no flash photography,
velvet ropes close me off
from covetous hands.
i may look like a pretty plaything,
but don’t pluck at my heartstrings
just for your own delight.
touch me and i’ll come apart.
i don’t want to get close to you.
once people know you,
that’s when they leave you.
your frame as still as ice,
vaporizing as I draw near.
your eyes avert,
avoiding my pull.
Way won’t you look at me?
please.
I need you to look at me.
