It doesn’t rain often here.
Here, it’s mostly sunshine and warmth,

                                                      Warmth that floods the skin,

                                                                                                        Skin sun-kissed pink

But every so often, there a comes a time,
                                                                       A time when it
                                                                              pours

                                         ...and sometimes...

I dare to step outside,
Without an umbrella over my head,
Let the sky’s tears slide over my skin,
And let the water’s weight weigh down
my coat,

Sprinkles to drops, and drops to downpours.
They thunder dramatically down, down,
down.
And I let the sky’s tears blend with my own
And dampen my face,

Until it creates puddles, soaking my shoes

                                                                               As my smile widens,
                                                                               becoming real,
                                                                               Because this
                                                                               overwhelming
                                                                               embrace,
                                                                               Must, assuredly, be
                                                                               what it’s like to feel.
